Flood water of river Jorakhar and Mansiri inundate Balipara

TEZPUR, July 26: The rising water of River Jorakhar and Mansiri
river following the incessant rain in the neighbouring hill state
Arunachal Pradesh in the last few days has flooded many

residential areas and agricultural fields again  in Balipara area
under Chariduar revenue circle  in Sonitpur District on Saturday.
The areas which are under the flood water till filing of this
report are Balipara center, Bamgaon,  Dighaligaon, Dighali
Balijan, Udmari Gaon, Dhekerigaon, Bhubula Gaon, Ouhola
Gaon, Nagapathar  and huge agricultural areas adjacent to
these mentioned villages.
Moreover, the floodwater also submerged the entire Balipara
centre, government and commercial setups along with the
Balipara-Jonai connecting NH-15. After flood water flowed over
the NH-15 at Balipara centre area the administration has
declared a temporary ban on public use and plying of the
vehicles on National Highway 15 as a safety measure of the
people.
Meanwhile SDRF, NDRF and concerned government
agencies have been busy helping the flood victims and
arranging for sheltering them in various high lands and public
places.  Additional district commissioner of Sonitpur and in-
charge circle officer of the Chariduar Revenue Circle Twahir
Alom has visited flood affected areas and took stock of the
situation. ADC Alom said that along with initiating necessary
measures,    relief camps had also been set up for the affected
peoples of the area.
