TEZPUR, Jan 5: Renowned social worker and former AASU leader from Sonitpur district, Budhindra Kumar Narzary, passed away on Thursday after a prolonged battle with cancer. At the age of 62, he succumbed to his illness in the early hours of the day. Late Narzary, actively engaged in the Assam Agitation, served as the vice president of the Tezpur Unit AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) and held various leadership roles within the organisation. Additionally, he served as the assistant general secretary of the Tezpur College Students’ Union.
A committed social worker, Narzary contributed to several socio-cultural and religious organisations, including Bahbari Usha Natya Samaj, Bindukuri branch of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Chardiuar Anchalik Sankardev Sangha, Bhagabat Samaj, Samaguri Burha Dangaria Than, Kolia Gokhai Than, and others. He received his education at Bihaguri Boy’s Higher Secondary School and later pursued studies at Tezpur College before dedicating himself to farming as his livelihood.
His passing was deeply mourned by various organisations and individuals. Upon receiving news of his demise, different organisations and Tezpur MLA Prithvi Raj Rabha visited the family to pay their last respects and extend condolences to the bereaved family.
