JORHAT, Aug 27: Paraj Bokul Baruah, a distinguished figure renowned for his contributions to both the professional realm and cultural heritage, breathed his last at the age of 76. The retired chief public relations officer of Oil India Limited, Baruah was a revered resident of the Choladhora area in Jorhat.
Baruah’s remarkable journey encompassed multifaceted roles, and he was widely respected for his deep-rooted engagement in fostering cultural and social welfare activities. He was also the son of the renowned poet late Ananda Chandra Baruah, fondly known as ‘Bokulbanar Kabi’, and had the distinction of being the former president of the prestigious Asam Sahitya Sabha.
Beyond his illustrious professional achievements, Baruah dedicated his efforts to various socio-welfare organisations aimed at preserving and celebrating the vibrant culture and heritage of Jorhat. His tireless commitment to these endeavours had a lasting impact on the community.
He is survived by his wife Subhra Baruah, an accomplished artist certified by All India Radio, as well as a son and a daughter.
