GUWAHATI, March 25: In a widening probe that has drawn significant political attention, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police, which is investigating the alleged Pakistan links of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and his wife Elizabeth Gogoi, interrogated Ahmedabad-based environmentalist Mihir R. Bhatt on Tuesday.
The SIT team, which travelled to Ahmedabad, questioned Bhatt, who is the director of the All India Disaster Mitigation Institute (AIDMI), over alleged professional connections linked to the probe.
Mihir Bhatt is a well-known figure in climate adaptation and disaster mitigation circles.
According to an official statement from AIDMI, Bhatt has contributed extensively to efforts addressing the risks of extreme heat and climate change.
However, Bhatt’s professional links with Lead India, an organization where Elizabeth Gogoi reportedly worked, have raised questions.
The SIT is examining the activities of this organization, which has come under scrutiny in light of suspicions surrounding alleged international influence.
