GUWAHATI, June 26: Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, accompanied by the First Lady of the state, Kumud Devi, offered prayers at the Kamakhya Temple on Thursday morning, following the conclusion of the five-day Ambubachi Mela.
The Governor’s visit coincided with ‘Nivritti’, marking the reopening of the temple after the annual observance.
According to an official statement, Governor Acharya offered his puja at the Shakti Peeth, seeking blessings from Goddess Kamakhya for the welfare and development of all sections of the people of Assam.
He expressed gratitude to the lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad whose participation contributed to the success of the spiritual congregation.
The Governor also commended the efforts of the Temple Management Committee, civil and police administration, and volunteers from various organisations for their coordinated work in ensuring the smooth conduct of the event.
He lauded their role in maintaining peace, harmony, and a spiritually conducive environment throughout the Mela, which drew pilgrims from diverse regions and backgrounds.
