DOKMOKA, Feb 5: Gracy Marak received warm welcome in Karbi Anglong on Wednesday.
Marak, the proud daughter of Karbi Anglong, led the NCC contingent in the Prime Minister’s parade on the occasion of 76th Republic Day celebration in New Delhi and wining the ‘Best Commander’ award was warmly welcomed by the people of her home town Parokhuwa with traditional dance songs of the Garo community, along with beating of drums and other musical instruments.
The North Eastern Region (NER) NCC contingent, which Gracy Marak led in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi has also won the ‘Best Song Award’ for ‘Desh’ and the Best NCC Band of 2024-25. The welcoming ceremony was attended by Prakash Changma, chairman of the Minority Development Board of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council;  Dharm Sing Kro, chairman, Tourism Development Board and leaders of prominent Garo organisations and local dignitaries.
Gracy is the daughter of Backsin Sangma and Jepolin Marak of Parokhova Garo Basti, Karbi Anglong district.
Through her exception leadership skills, discipline, and dedication leading the NCC contingent for winning the prestigious Best Commander award has made her family proud and brought fame for her community and district.
