Gunotsav-2023 starts in Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, Jan 18: The first phase of Gunotsav-2023 in Karbi Anglong district has started in which assessment of learning outcomes of children for identifying learning gaps and subsequently designing of remedial measures for improvement will cover the students from Class I to IX.

Informing about the ‘Gunotsav’ in a press conference held at the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Secretariat here on Tuesday, the Executive Member (EM) of KAAC, Education, Richard Tokbi said, “As part of Gunotsav, self evaluation has been completed in all schools. The school managing committee members and teachers have conducted the self-evaluation; and from tomorrow onwards, the conduct of external evaluation in all schools will start.”

He also said, “Gunotsav is also a part of reforming the education system as it is only through education that can bring a person from darkness to light.”

The evaluation consists of scholastic, co-scholastic and community participation covering Class I to IX. A total of 77,963 students in 1,342 schools under six educational blocks, namely Howraghat, Langsomepi, Lumbajong, Nilip, Rongmongve and Samelangso have been covered in this Gunotsav. A total of 644 external evaluators have been appointed, the EM said.

The category of schools that are covered are primary – 1,100; primary with upper primary — five; upper primary only — 147; upper primary secondary and higher secondary — 16; upper primary and secondary — 66; secondary only — six; secondary with higher secondary – two schools.
