Hagrama Mohilary joins community Bathou Kherai at Kokrajhar

Bathou prayer held to promote peace, harmony and unity in BTC region

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 16: The community Bathou Kherai puja, symbolising peace, harmony, unity and brotherhood of the Bodo land was held on Tuesday at Green Field in Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar. The Bathou prayer was organised by Dularai Bathou Gouthum (All Bathou Religious Association).

BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary participated in the community Bathou prayer. Assam Cabinet Minister Chandan Boro, BTC Executive Member Fres Mwsahary and Council Member Jubiraj Basumatary were also present and took part in the religious observance.

Speaking to the media after the puja, Hagrama Mohilary said that Bathou is the ancient religion of the Bodo people and described himself as a devoted follower of the faith. He said that he offers prayers at the Bathou altar every morning before leaving for work.

Mohilary said he experienced immense peace and happiness after participating in the Bathou Kherai puja at Green Field and prayed for peace and well-being for all communities residing in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) area.

He further stated that the Bathou religion has already received recognition from the state government and that prayers and worship under the Bathou faith are performed every Tuesday. Mohilary added that the Bathou Kherai puja and community prayer are organised annually to promote peace, harmony, unity and brotherhood among all communities living in the BTC region.
