Head-on collision leaves dozens injured in Margherita

Margherita, Aug 16: A major accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a public-carrying bus and a mini truck collided head-on along NH 315 at Makum Pathar Road in Margherita, under the Tinsukia district.

The public-carrying bus, named Prisha and registered as AS 06 BC 2142, was en route from Dibrugarh to Jagun. Simultaneously, the mini truck with registration number AS 23 AC 6766 was on its way to Powai Tea Estate. The collision resulted in serious injuries to approximately 40 passengers aboard the bus, as well as the driver and assistant of the mini truck.

Swift action was taken to transport all injured passengers to Margherita Civil Hospital for immediate medical attention. Local residents of the Makum Pathar area, who were present during the accident, alleged that the collision occurred due to the negligence of the bus driver.

The incident underscores the importance of road safety and responsible driving, as such accidents can have severe consequences for individuals and their families.
