BOKAJAN: Acting on secret information, a special naka was set up in front of Lahorijan Patrol Post under Dillai police station led by SDPO John Das.
Around 12:30 am on Saturday, a truck bearing registration number NL 01 AE 4382 coming from Manipur was intercepted and on being searched 116 soap cases containing 1.3 kgs of heroin were recovered which were concealed by tarpaulin of the truck.
Two persons have been arrested in this regard. They have been identified as Aijul Haque (50), son of Lt Andul Sattar, resident of Bhakat Gaon, Nagaon police station, Nagaon district and Dildar Hussain (18), son of Anowar Hussain, resident of Hati Larua Pathar, Bhuragaon police station, Morigaon district.
Applauding the move, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “#AssamAgainstDrugs @karbianglongpol intercepted a truck coming from a neighbouring state and seized 116 soap boxes containing 1.3 kg Heroin concealed in the tarpaulin of the truck at Lahorijan, Karbi Anglong. Also apprehended two accused. Great work @assampolice. Keep it up.”
