BISWANATH CHARIALI, April 21: The police have arrested on man for stabbing his wife to death in the Dakhin Balijuri area of Biswanath Chariali.
According to sources, the accused, Thungi Santhal, a resident of Dakhin Balijuri had reportedly stabbed his wife, Joonmani Santhal to death at his residence on Saturday night. A heated argument broke out between the couple regarding a particular family issue. The furious husband, who had been drunk stabbed his wife with a sharp knife and escaped from his house. They have two children.
When the incident came to light in the morning, the village headman informed the police. A team of police opersonnel headed by Bhaskar Jyoti Saikia, officer in-charge of the Itakhola outpost reached the site and launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused.
The husband was later arrested by the police and taken into custody. The body was sent for autopsy, the report of which is awaited.
