TEZPUR, Oct 1: The International Day for Elderly Persons was observed by different organisations, old age homes, and orphanages in and around Tezpur city, including Tapovan Elderly Care Home located at Nabapur, Mazgaon, on Tuesday. In connection with the event, the Sonitpur district administration, along with the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and the National Health Mission, Sonitpur, in collaboration with Tapovan Elderly Care Home, organised an event for senior citizens of the district at the care home.
Along with a host of dignitaries and several social workers of the district, the event was graced by MLA, Tezpur LAC, Prithiraj Rava; district commissioner, Ankur Bharali; and CEO of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad, Karabi Saikia Karan. A health camp was also part of the event, with free testing for non-communicable diseases, along with several fun activities for the elderly.
