Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Sonitpur, Gathers For Monthly Meeting At LOKD College

TEZPUR, Nov 23: Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Sonitpur, convened its monthly meeting at Dhekiajuli’s Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College (LOKD) on Wednesday. The event, graced by president Ranendra Mohan Deka, commenced with a stirring patriotic song performed by Dr Mohuya Chatterjee and was presided over by Mamata Boro. Sudarshan Sahu conducted the proceedings.

 

The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was carried out by Dr Neelakshi Goswami, the principal of LOKD College, in the presence of esteemed dignitaries from the organisation. Sudarshan Sahu, elucidating the meeting’s objectives, emphasised the need for a paradigm shift in historical narrative. Dr Neelakshi Goswami, in her address, stressed the importance of approaching history with a fresh perspective.

Dr Jyotshna Baruah, the resource person, delved into the economic aspects of Ambikagiri Roychowdhury’s nationalism, shedding light on lesser-known facets related to Roychowdhury’s advocacy for economic issues in Assam and his dedication to fostering entrepreneurship. The session included an engaging interaction with the audience.

 

President Ranendra Mohan Deka underscored the importance of rewriting history based on research, bringing forth lesser-known aspects of Assam’s history. He referred to Arupa Patangia Kalita’s novel, “Felani,” and its historical backdrop in his address.

The meeting, attended by office bearers, committee members, college teachers, and students, concluded with Dipali Mahanta’s recitation of a self-composed poem portraying Tezpur in a historical light. Chandana Devi extended a vote of thanks, marking the end of the insightful gathering.
