Karimganj, May 22: In a significant drug bust, Karimganj Police seized approximately 300 grams of suspected heroin, valued at around Rs 2 crore, from the Deokuri area of Kaliganj. The operation led to the arrest of a drug trafficker.
Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a passenger vehicle with the registration number AS/11/CC/3654 in the Deokuri area. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered around 300 grams of suspected heroin, packaged in 25 separate packets.
The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Burhan Uddin, a resident of Bagbari in Kaliganj. The successful seizure underscores the ongoing efforts of Karimganj Police to combat drug trafficking in the region.
In a related development, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police recently conducted a major raid in the Koinadhara area under the Basistha Police Station limits in Guwahati. During this operation, the STF seized 23 vials containing approximately 30.5 grams of suspected heroin and other incriminating materials, marking another blow against the illegal drug trade in the state.
