TEZPUR, Sept 4: The department of Geriatric Mental Health at LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), Tezpur, organised a workshop titled ‘Dementia: Early Identification and Basic Management’ for medical officers in Sonitpur district. This workshop coincided with the commencement of World Alzheimer’s Month and aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of medical officers in the early identification, basic management, and referral requirements for individuals with dementia.
The workshop was inaugurated by Professor Dr SK Deuri, the director of LGBRIMH. Also in attendance were Dr Dwipen Mahanta, president of the Indian Medical Association in Tezpur, and other faculty members from the institute.
Medical officers from various hospitals in Sonitpur district participated in the workshop. The joint director of Health Services for Sonitpur district also expressed his support and best wishes for the event. The workshop featured Dr Kangkan Pathak, head of the department of Psychiatry, Dr Subhashish Nath, associate professor and in-charge of the department of Geriatric Mental Health, and Dr Vijay Gogoi, associate professor of Psychiatry, among other resource persons.
