Lot Mandal Arrested In Ghohpur

GUWAHATI, Aug 7: In a swift operation, the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, apprehended Nowshad Ali, a Lot Mandal from the office of the circle officer, Ghohpur Revenue Circle, Biswanath district, for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 8,000 for processing Namjari.

Acting on a complaint, a trap was laid by the Vigilance team on Monday at a canteen inside the office premises. Nowshad Ali was caught red-handed around 1:55 PM, accepting Rs 4,000 as part of the demanded bribe from the complainant. The tainted money was seized as evidence.

The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Legal proceedings are ongoing as authorities take strict action against corruption.
