Manipur BJP write to national president JP Nadda, highlights public anger on party

Imphal, Sept 30: BJP’s Manipur unit has written a letter to the Centre highlighting the government’s failure to curb the state’s ethnic violence.

The concerns have been flagged in a signed letter by eight officer bearers of the state led by state vice president A Sharda Devi.

The letter addressed to JP Nadda, states, “Public anger and protest are now slowly turning the tide, putting the sole onus of this prolonged disturbances solely into the failure of the government in dealing with the situation. We know that our government is also working unstopped day and night so as to bring back normalcy in the state”.

The state BJP unit of Manipur urged Nadda to push the revocation of Article 355 and the restoration of the unified command to the CM to bring back confidence in the state government. Under Article 355, the Centre calls the shots in several aspects of security amid the continuing unrest.

The leaders also urged Centre to normalise traffic on national highways and arrest troublemakers. Calling for immediate resettlement and rehabilitation of the 60,000 – odd displaced people and compensation for lost home, the leaders requested Nadda’s support for the injured and deceased, as promised by the government.
