MLA Lawrence Islary distributes relief cheques in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 14: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Lawrence Islary on Saturday distributed cheques under various welfare schemes at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar’s Chandmari area.

The cheques were distributed as a part of the “12 Days of Development” initiative launched by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The cheques were distributed to 331 beneficiaries, offering seed capital to bolster their entrepreneurial endeavors under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme.

In addition, ‘No Dues Certificates’ were also distributed under the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme to 119 Category-III Phase-II borrowers from Kokrajhar district.

Besides this, a financial assistance was also extended to 4,586 individuals affected by various disasters.

Addressing the gathering, Islary lauded the visionary leadership of Sarma, stating that these initiatives signify a robust step towards fostering development and providing timely support to the underprivileged.

“Such initiatives stood as a testament to the Assam Government’s resolve to promote inclusive development and create sustainable opportunities for all and expressed hope that this will empower individuals and families, paving the way for economic stability and growth in Kokrajhar,” he added.

The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including ADC Kabita Deka, Nitya Binod Warie, senior officials of the district administration, and other key stakeholders.
