KOILAMATI, Sept 19: The Market Modernisation Improvement Programme (MMIP) has initiated the construction of market sheds for the Koilamati Weekly Market.
The foundation stone for this project was laid on Monday by Dr Numal Momin, deputy speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, and Pobitra Rongpi, Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), Nilip.
The ceremony saw the participation of villagers, shopkeepers, vegetable vendors, and businessmen from the Koilamati Weekly Market.
MAC Rongpi expressed his commitment to bringing more development to the area.
Dr Momin emphasised that government welfare schemes are distributed without bias along party and religious lines. He also highlighted various completed projects in Koilamati, including a 10-bedded hospital, an RCC bridge across the Deigrum River, a road connecting Silonijan to Chokihola, a residential school for girls, an auditorium hall, and a boundary wall at Arlong Rupat School. He added that those responsible for incomplete construction of PMAY-G houses will face legal consequences.
