DIBRUGARH, Sept 28: The Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) conducted a Level-III Offsite Mock Drill in Lepetkata on Wednesday. The scenario for the drill involved a major chlorine leak from a chlorine tonner’s valve, which had fallen off from a loading truck at BCPL in Lepetkata, Dibrugarh.
The mock drill was conducted in the presence of various officials, including Gaurab Dutta, field officer (Disaster Management), Dibrugarh West Revenue Circle; SK Gurung, inspector of factories, Dibrugarh; A Pujari, inspector of factories, Dibrugarh; and T Haokip, DC-CISF.
Vijay Kumar Pal, chief operating officer of BCPL, Pranjal Changmai, general manager in-charge of Operations, and other BCPL officers and staff actively participated in the Level-III Offsite Mock Drill. Mutual Aid teams from various organisations, including Oil India Limited Duliajan, Indian Oil Corporation Digboi, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Sibsagar, Assam Gas Company Limited Duliajan, BVFCL Namrup, Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Digboi, Duliajan Numaligarh Pipeline Limited (DNPL) Duliajan, Assam Petrochemical Ltd (APL), and Coal India Ltd, Margherita, also participated.
The mock drill aimed to assess the preparedness of BCPL’s Emergency Management System in the event of an emergency. The exercise was successfully concluded and followed by a review meeting with all participating agencies, receiving appreciation from district administration, statutory authorities, and mutual aid teams.
