DEMOW, March 21: The Demow Municipality area Sangrami Mancha had submitted a memorandum to state chief minister and deputy commissioner of Sivasagar district through Demow circle officer on Monday regarding withdrawal of property tax issued by Demow Municipality Board and demanding cancellation of Demow Municipality.

Parag Saikia, president and Jayanta Chetia Phukan, is the secretary of Demow Municipality area Sangrami Mancha. In the memorandum they stated that there is lack of civic facilities in Demow municipality area.
People are of the view that days after formation of the board taxation was introduced.
Regarding this issue a public meeting was organised on March 15, 2023 in Demow public field and the people of Demow strongly opposed the move and the Demow municipality people had decided not to pay the tax at any circumstances and also demanded the cancellation of Demow Municipality. Moreover in the memorandum the demands taken in the public meeting were mentioned.
