HAFLONG, July 14:
Nandita Gorlosa, the Minister for Sports & Youth Welfare, chaired a review meeting on Friday with the contractors responsible for constructing Anganwadi centres in Dima Hasao district. The meeting aimed to gather feedback on the progress of the work and address any challenges faced during implementation. Block development officers from different blocks were present during the meeting.
Following the meeting, Minister Gorlosa addressed the media and provided insights into the issues and challenges encountered during the implementation of Anganwadi centres in the district. She highlighted that the challenges mainly arose from confusions and lack of communication. However, she reassured that the issues have been resolved by addressing them directly with the contractors in the presence of the block development officers. This should prevent any further delays in the construction process of the Anganwadi centres, ensuring their timely completion for the larger benefit of the public.
Regarding the progress of the project, 11 centres have already been completed, and plans are underway to construct 29 more in Dima Hasao district. As the schemes fall under MLA-funded projects, minister Gorlosa emphasised that the contractors will implement the work under the guidance of the DC office. She asserted that whether the scheme is implemented through the council or the DC office, the ultimate objective remains the same – to benefit the people of Dima Hasao.
Addressing confusion surrounding the implementation of Phase II of the Anganwadi centres, minister Gorlosa urged the cooperation of gaonburas (village headmen) during the allotment of plots for the centres. She stated that these centres would greatly benefit small children, particularly those in the nearby areas.
