Neighbourhood Youth Parliament at Morigaon College of Education

Youth leaders and educators convene to deliberate on civic responsibility

MORIGAON, Feb 28: The Neighbourhood Youth Parliament was held at Morigaon College of Education on Wednesday. Morigaon Nehru Yuva Kendra, in cooperation with the College of Education, organised the program. Randeep Nandi, a consultant to a voluntary organisation in Nagaon, attended as the keynote speaker.

“The most significant time in human life is youth. As gold becomes vibrant when it melts and the goldsmith shapes it to his liking. The youth will flow like the stream of new India, and this stream will shine the heritage of our country in the minds of the world,” said Randeep Nandi. The program was inaugurated by Dr Doli Buragohain, principal of Morigaon College of Education. Dr Ruksana Rahman, assistant professor at Morigaon College of Education, and Imran Uz Zaman Shah, associate professor and coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, were present as guest speakers. District youth officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Bikas Chandra Pradhan, explained the objectives of the program and details about My Bharat Vikshit Bharat @2. The event was attended by Wahidur Rahman, a teacher at Model Higher Secondary School, and Tulsi Deka, a district committee member of Nehru Yuva Kendra. The students of Manikanchan Yoga Sports Association performed a group yoga dance under the direction of yoga teacher Anant Bora, and Nataraj Dance Academy Jajari performed an attractive Sattriya dance. The speaker, Prime Minister, leader of the Opposition, government MPs, Opposition MPs, etc., were seated in the seats of the youth representatives where a ‘mock’ parliament was performed by the youths. The meeting was conducted by Dhananjay Talukdar, accountant, and program officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra.
