GUWAHATI, April 23: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has launched a special cleanliness and inspection drive on Wednesday.
The drive focused on improving sanitation both at stations and onboard trains, while addressing complaints registered through Rail Madad platform. Special emphasis is being laid on effective complaint resolution and real-time onboard monitoring by assigned officers conducting inspections between stations across the NFR zone.
A key highlight of this initiative is the establishment of Clean Train Station (CTS) facilities at Badarpur and Lumding stations, ensuring thorough mechanized cleaning of coaches during halts by dedicated teams. The cleaning includes high-pressure jet cleaning of toilets, floor and vestibule washing, garbage collection, dry sweeping, mirror and washbasin cleaning, aisle mopping with disinfectants and toilet disinfection. Additionally, onboard inspections are being conducted across UP and DN trains, with any identified shortfalls promptly addressed by housekeeping staff. Major cleaning interventions are also coordinated with primary maintenance depots during pit line schedules to ensure long-term impact. All trains across the zone were comprehensively covered under the special drive, with visible improvements in cleanliness standards, as seen for example in the train no. 20503 (Rajdhani Express), at Dibrugarh coaching depot.
