GOSSAIGAON, Jan 29: The Ali Azam faction of the All BTR Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) has strongly reacted to claims made by Tyson Hussain that the Kokrajhar and Chirang district committees of ABMSU were dissolved following the resignation of their respective presidents.
Abu Jubayer Mondal, General Secretary of the Ali Azam faction, clarified that after the resignation of Kokrajhar district president Selim Sheikh and Chirang district president Moinul Haque, the organisation immediately appointed Anowara Hussain as the acting president of Kokrajhar and Mohibul Haque as the acting president of Chirang.
Reacting to Tyson Hussain’s allegation that ABMSU is affiliated with the UPPL party, Mondal dismissed the claim, asserting that ABMSU remains an independent organization formed from its grassroots base.
Ali Azam, the ABMSU president, challenged Tyson Hussain, accusing him of having political connections with the UPPL. He alleged that on April 6, at 10:30 am, just before the Lok Sabha elections, Tyson Hussain and ABMSU Secretary Saidul Hussain held a secret meeting at Hotel Radisson Blu in Guwahati with Dipen Boro, President of ABSU, and former minister Chandan Brahma. He further alleged that before the elections, Tyson Hussain accepted Rs 4 lakh from a candidate through an RTGS transaction, facilitated by a former vice-president of ABMCU’s Chirang district committee.
Ali Azam criticized Tyson Hussain for prioritizing personal interests over the community’s welfare, stating that during his tenure, Tyson did not submit even a single memorandum regarding community issues to the chief minister or BTR chief executive member.
