NTPC Bongaigaon generates sustainable power with involvement of stakeholders

KOKRAJHAR, March 31: The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Bongaigaon Salakati generating 750 MW has been generating sustainable power with inclusive involvement of all its stakeholders in entire Bodoland Territorial Region districts.

In a media interaction held on Thursday at NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati in Kokrajhar, senior management headed by Subrata Mandal, executive director, NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati spoke on the various operational and plant performance highlights of the station.

Mandal said that 2021 has been a year of stupendous achievement in all areas and the station has achieved more than 100% daily PLF for the first time by generating 18.25 MU (101.39 % PLF) on March 18, 2021 since its inception of all 3 units (previous best was 17.79 MU on March 17, 2021). The station also achieved its highest ever monthly PLF score of 75.86% in April 2021.

“The station has achieved lowest ever monthly specific oil consumption of 0.12 mi/ kwh in July 2021. In the area of ash utilisation, the station achieved its highest ever daily ash utilisation of 2297.04 MT on March 29, 2022 and highest ever monthly ash utilisation of 52,591 MT in March 2022. The safety parameters have been recognised at the apex level by the Union minister of Power at Shram Shakti Awards 2020-21 on November 7, 2021,” he added.

Mandal also spoke of the FGD Technology coming up in the plant as a step to mitigate pollution. He added that NTPC Bongaigaon in the last Financial Year planted 40,000 saplings in and around the station and 900 kwP roof top solar plant has also been installed in the plant. NTPC has also planted 20,000 saplings as a part of green initiative. “As a part of societal commitment and girl empowerment, NTPC Bongaigaon will also be starting a flagship program called Girls Empowerment Mission (GEM) this year in which 40 girls will be trained during the month of July,” he added.

On Covid front, Mandal added that around 3,200 people including all employees, associates and people from nearby villages have been vaccinated and an oxygen boosting and bottling plant has been inaugurated on October 7, 2021 to meet any kind of exigency.

He added that NTPC Bongaigaon will take necessary steps to vaccinate the younger ones who fall under the age group of 15-18 years in the coming days.

Mandal highlighted the spirit of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and showcased how NTPC Bongaigaon has been celebrating the 75 years of Indian Independence.
