MARGHERITA, May 7: Operations have been temporarily suspended at Makum Motors in Ledo after the fuel dispenser in the petrol pump allegedly dispensed water instead of petrol.
The driver of a Wagon r bearing the registration number ‘AS 04 N 5018’ had reportedly filled its fuel tank at Makum Motors on Monday night. However, the vehicle abruptly halted after just travelling three kilometers.
Upon inspection, the owner of the vehicle was startled to find water instead of the fuel in the tank of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by Kanchan Borah, general secretary of the Asom Jatiyotabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad’s (AJYCP) Tinsukia district committee arrived on the spot. Members of the students’ organisation lodged a written complaint at the Ledo Police Outpost.
In response to the situation, operations at Makum Motors have been temporarily halted.
“The tank of my vehicle was refilled at Makum Motors on April 30. However, the vehicle suddenly broke down just after travelling for three kilometres. When we got the car checked, the mechanic informed us that the tank was filled with water instead of petrol. I have taken the sample of the water in the fule tank and showed it to the staff at the petrol pump,” said the owner of the Wagon r.
