DIBRUGARH, June 1: Overnight rain has inundated many areas of Dibrugarh and the most affected places are Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya school road and Mancotta road.
Most of the roads were waterlogged because of the poor drainage system.
Due to the low laying area, the waterlogging has been witnessed in the particular road for last several years but the district administration could not find solution to solve the perennial problem.
The busy Mancotta road was also badly affected by the flash flood in several stretches. The 300-metre stretch of road just before the newly constructed flyover from the Chowkidinghee side resembled a rivulet with the water level reaching up to the knee-height.
The Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr Saikat Patra has been seen instructed the workers to clean the drain where the water was clogged due to garbage.
“The Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya School road and Mancotta road was affected and came under water due to the overnight rain. Due to the poor drainage system of Dibrugarh waterlogging can be seen in particular road,” alleged a citizen.
