GUWAHATI, Oct 17: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced the approval of four more colleges in Assam for the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), a press release said on Thursday.
The approval was granted by the Eastern Regional Committee (ERC) of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), further expanding the state’s capacity to offer 4-year B.Ed courses.
Taking to the micro-blogging site X, Pegu stated, “I am happy to share that the Eastern Regional Committee (ERC) of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has approved four more colleges in Assam for the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), offering 4-year B.Ed courses.”
The newly approved colleges include: ADP College (with Nowgong BEd College), Rangapara College (with Tezpur BEd College), Golaghat Commerce College (with Golaghat BEd College), and Dhakuakhana College.
The Minister also informed that the decision has come as a significant development in Assam’s education sector, following similar approvals last year for Bahona College, North Lakhimpur College, Chaiduar College, and Tyagbir Hem Baruah College.
Pegu further expressed optimism that the addition of these institutions will further strengthen Assam’s ITEP capacity, enhancing the quality of teacher education and addressing the growing demand for qualified teachers in the state.
“Last year, Bahona College, North Lakhimpur College, Chaiduar College, and Tyagbir Hem Baruah College received similar approval. This will further strengthen Assam’s ITEP capacity”, Pegu added.
