GUWAHATI, July 26: A significant meeting took place at Janata Bhawan on Wednesday, where Pijush Hazarika, the Assam social justice & empowerment minister, held discussions with a newly formed organisation representing de-addiction and rehabilitation center owners. The meeting focused on the effective functioning of these centers and their vital role in rehabilitating addicts and facilitating their reintegration into society.
During the meeting, minister Pijush Hazarika emphasised the importance of providing proper medical aid, comfortable lodging, bathrooms, and other essential facilities to drug addicts who are residing in these centers as per government directives and guidelines. Ensuring the well-being and safety of these individuals remains a top priority for the government.
The discussions revolved around reviewing the efficiency of the de-addiction and rehabilitation centers and finding ways to enhance their operations further. Minister Hazarika emphasised the need for a holistic approach to address the challenges posed by addiction and expressed the government’s commitment to supporting such initiatives.
Applauding the action, chief minister Himanta Biswa sarma on Wednesday tweeted, “Good to see the whole of government approach to achieve a Drug Free Assam. Rehabilitation centres have played a crucial role in this endeavour and developing a common SoP will ensure effective outcomes.”
The newly formed organisation of de-addiction and rehabilitation center owners expressed their dedication to the cause and shared their insights into improving the rehabilitation process for addicts.
