DIPHU, July 3: An important meeting was convened on Wednesday at Circuit House, bringing together district commissioner (DC), magistrate, and officials from various departments.
The focus of the meeting was the upcoming National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Block/District level bench/camp scheduled for July 10, 2024, at Dokmoka Higher Secondary School, Dokmoka, under the Samelangso Aspirational Block.
The event aims to address grievances related to the violation and deprivation of children’s rights and entitlements, while also raising awareness about government schemes catering to children aged 0 to 18 years.
Madhumita Bhagwati, ACS, district commissioner of Karbi Anglong District, stressed the importance of each department showcasing their respective schemes at the camp to enhance awareness among children and parents.
Key contributions from departments include the Medical Department arranging for Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), PMJAY card issuance, EKYC generation with Aadhaar card, and health check-ups for children aged 0-18 to identify disabilities.
The District Rural Development Agency will facilitate Aadhaar registration, while Postal and Banking Services will assist in opening new savings accounts. Other departments such as Sports, Labour, and Education will also showcase and facilitate their schemes for children and women.
The District Social Welfare Department will serve as the nodal department for organising the camp, with the inaugural program scheduled to commence at 11:00 AM.
Officials from NCPCR are expected to attend the camp at Dokmoka Higher Secondary School on the designated day.
This initiative underscores the concerted effort to empower and support children within the community, ensuring their rights and welfare are prioritised.
