DIBRUGARH, June 22: In a heartwarming gesture that combined entertainment with social impact, the JCI Alumni Club and JCI Dibrugarh Greens jointly organised a special screening of the film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ for underprivileged and differently-abled children at Galleria Cinema, Dibrugarh, on Sunday morning.
The event, titled “Ek Movie Sitaron Ke Sang,” was part of a community outreach initiative aimed at providing a joyful and inspiring experience to children who seldom get such opportunities.
More than 40 differently-abled children attended the screening, accompanied by Jyotsna Sonowal, founder of Prerona Pratibandhi NGO.
Additionally, 20 children from another NGO, Kalyan Ashram, also participated in the event.
Members of both JCI units, along with volunteers and guests, joined the first morning show, which proved to be a deeply emotional and meaningful experience.
The film, featuring Aamir Khan and Genelia D’Souza, revolves around a disgraced basketball coach who is tasked with training a group of neurodivergent individuals.
The story unfolds into a powerful narrative of transformation, inclusion, and the uplifting power of sports.
Notably, the film includes ten newcomers portraying the young athletes, earning praise for its sensitive storytelling.
“This movie is a reminder of how inclusion and dignity can change lives. Our children were not just entertained—they felt seen, valued, and inspired,” said Mrs. Sonowal, extending her gratitude to the organisers.
Representatives from both JCI Alumni Club and JCI Dibrugarh Greens highlighted the importance of such initiatives.
“The movie is a learning experience for all of us. We are proud to have hosted this special screening for children who rarely get access to such enriching opportunities,” said a member of the Alumni Club.
“It’s not just about cinema; it’s about sharing a message of acceptance, respect, and empathy for all abilities,” added a representative of JCI Dibrugarh Greens.
The initiative was widely appreciated for its compassion and commitment to inclusivity, turning an ordinary Sunday into a memorable celebration of resilience and humanity.
