Preparatory meeting for Republic Day celebrations conducted in Gossaigaon

GOSSAIGAON, Jan 3: A preparatory meeting for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations took place on Tuesday at the conference hall of the SDO-Civil office in Gossaigaon. The meeting, presided over by Aranyak Saikia, IAS, SDO-Civil, aimed to garner support and cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure an engaging and smooth observance of Republic Day.

Saikia encouraged suggestions from participants to enhance the program’s appeal and stressed the importance of each department fulfilling its assigned duties effectively. Reflecting on the progress made in addressing the grievances of Gossaigaon sub-division residents, Saikia reviewed last year’s meeting’s outcomes and discussed steps taken to alleviate problems. He sought comprehensive progress reports from department heads, political parties, and local intellectuals.

Key topics addressed during the meeting included the beautification of the Bhobrabil to KVK road, the incomplete crematorium at Uttarpara, the construction of a flyover connecting Habrubil Market over National Highway-31(c), issues of artificial flooding in various parts of Gossaigaon sub-division, the reconstruction of parks in Gossaigaon, and the construction of four bridges in Bhombrabil.

The meeting featured a presentation on the overall progress report of various departments, including Horticulture, the Department of Handloom and Textiles, Library, and Water Resources, through a PowerPoint presentation.

Notable attendees included former MLA Hemendra Nath Brahma, 29 West Kokrajhar Dhruba Kumar Brahma Narzary, former chairman of GTC Khanin Das, president of Gossaigaon Shakha Sahitya Sabha, representatives from NGOs and organisations, political party representatives, Hiren Kumar (SDPO, Gossaigaon), and personnel from SSB, CRPF, and local intellectuals.
