SIVASAGAR, July 24: The recent appalling incident in Manipur, where two women were paraded naked in public, has sparked fury and condemnation worldwide. Several organisations in Sivasagar, including Asom Jatiya Parishad, Sangrami Asom Sena, Brihattar Sivasagar Press Club, and Rangpur Sahitya Sabha, have come together to strongly condemn the heinous act. They are demanding death penalties for the culprits responsible for this horrific crime.

Pankaj Khound, the secretary of Sangrami Sena Asom, asserted that the government must take stern action against criminal elements, drug traffickers, and illegal weapon carriers in Manipur, who have incited violence and chaos in the state.

Notable members of Asom Jatiya Parishad, Mrinal Chutia and Ranjan Konwar, also expressed their condemnation of the outrageous atrocity against women in Manipur. They raised questions about the prolonged silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the matter, urging him to address the issue promptly.

Abhijit Duwora, the secretary of Brihattar Sivasagar Press Club, demanded the imposition of President’s rule in Manipur to restore law and order in the state. The protest against the atrocities on women in Manipur is gaining momentum, and voices demanding justice and accountability are growing louder.
