Award ceremony to be held on April 4

DIPHU, March 30: The 11th edition of Rangsina Sarpo Film Award and Rangsina Sarpo Folk Artiste Award for 2022 will be conferred to film personalities by the Cultural Affairs Department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) to be organised at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Memorial Town Hall, Matipung here on April 4. The programme is organised by KAAC in association with Karbi Film Society.
The censor board has shortlisted five Karbi films for the award. The Cultural Affairs Department has invited chief executive member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang to grace the award giving programme as chief guest and MP Horensing Bey as guest of honour.
Announcing the award in a press conference held at Karbi Traditional Music, Culture and Research Institute, here at Lorulangso the deputy director of Cultural Affairs, KAAC, Rani Terangpi said, “The Rangsina Sarpo Film Award and Rangsina Sarpo Folk Artiste Award to film personalities and folk artistes for which the censor board has shortlisted five films for the award. The shortlisted films are Khamkhe, Alar, Rongpharpi Rongbe, Ne Sengve Kehang and Mirbin.”
The deputy director said due to Covid-19 pandemic not many films could be produced with a subsequent lesser number of films for entry in the award. The award carries a cash prize, a certificate and a trophy.
The categories of awards are Special Jury Award for 2022, Best Child Artist, Best Costume Designer, Best Choreographer, Best Comedian, Best Cinematographer, Best Actor in a negative role (male), Best Art Director, Best Supporting Actor male and female, Best Script Writer/Screenplay, Best Playback Singer Male and female, Best Lyricist, Best Music Director, Best Actor female and Best actor male consolation, Best director, Best Film Editor and Best Make-up.
The Rangsina Sarpo Folk Artiste Award will be for male and female.
The deputy director also informed that the programme will start from 5 pm and entry will be free.
Deputy secretary, Art & Culture, Sona Terang, Dr Janta Pator and Tribal Culture Research officer, Dilip Kathar were present at the press meet.
