GUWAHATI, Nov 8: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday asserted that National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners are working diligently toward the welfare and development of the common masses.
Sonowal made the statement while addressing a rally in the Chirang district, where he sought votes for the NDA-backed UPPL candidate, Nirmal Kumar Brahma.
“NDA-backed candidates in Assam are winning in the five constituencies (LACs) across the state, including the Sidli LAC. Today, people from all communities are coming forward to support the UPPL candidate, Nirmal Kumar Brahma, in Sidli LAC. His victory is now assured,” Sonowal said.
The Union minister was accompanied by the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro, as well as senior NDA alliance leaders, MPs, and MLAs.
Boro also addressed election rallies in Runikhata, Khungring, and met with local residents across the constituency. He stated that the people have expressed strong support for the UPPL and NDA alliance in the upcoming by-elections on November 13. He added, “The NDA will win Sidli by a landslide in the assembly by-elections, along with the other four constituencies.”
He emphasised that people from all communities are rallying behind Brahma, the NDA-backed UPPL candidate in the by-elections.
“It was a great pleasure to join Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister Shri @sarbanandsonwal and respected dignitaries of our UPPL+BJP+AGP alliance at the Grand Public Meeting for the upcoming 31 No. Sidli (ST) LAC by-elections. The immense love and affection of the people of Sidli for the NDA is truly remarkable. With their blessings, our alliance will defeat the opposition and secure a historic victory,” Boro said.
The rally also saw the participation of prominent leaders, including cabinet ministers Urkhao Gwra Brahma and Ashok Singhal, who joined Sonowal in rallying support for the NDA candidate. The leaders emphasized unity and development in the region, urging voters to back Brahma in the upcoming by-election.
The election campaign for the Sidli LAC by-election has intensified, with political parties such as the ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), BPF, and Congress Party making efforts to woo the electorate.
In total, five LACs in Assam are witnessing by-elections, including Sidli, Bongaigaon, Dholai, Behali, and Samaguri. Three candidates are contesting the Sidli LAC by-election scheduled for November 13: Nirmal Kumar Brahma of UPPL, Siddha Kumar of BPF, and Sanjib Wary of the Congress party.
