DIPHU, Aug 14: The State Bank of India’s Diphu branch marked the observance of Partition Horrors
Remembrance Day, in line with other locations across the country. The event featured an exhibition of
partition-themed posters at the SBI Diphu Branch on Lumding Road.
Depankar Chokroborty, chief manager of SBI Diphu Branch, expressed the significance of observing
Partition Horrors Remembrance Day throughout the country. The day serves as a reminder of the
significant incident of India’s partition, which resulted in displacement and loss of lives. The
commemoration honors the struggles and sacrifices of the Indian people during the partition. This
annual observance was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chokroborty highlighted that the observance takes place across all 200 branches of SBI, including 12
branches in the Northeast region. The impact of the partition led to a loss of social cohesion. By
remembering this historical event, the younger generation gains insights into how the partition affected
the people of India. He emphasised the importance of national unity to safeguard against potential
threats.
The exhibition remained open for the entire day, allowing the public to view the partition-themed
posters and reflect on the historical significance of the event.
