Schools to remain close due to heavy rainfall forecast in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG, June 12: 
In a notification issued by the Inspector of Schools, Dima Hasao Haflong, all schools in Greater Haflong, Harangajao, Mahur, and other landslide-prone areas of the district will remain closed for 5 days, starting from June 13 to June 17. This closure is a precautionary measure in response to the forecast of heavy rainfall by the Indian Meteorological Department in various parts of Dima Hasao.

Furthermore, the Dima Hasao deputy commissioner and chairman of DDMA (District Disaster Management Authority), Simanta Kr Das, has urged all district officials and heads of government departments to be on high alert. He also requested the public to avoid areas prone to landslides and to refrain from traveling during heavy rain. It is advised to take all necessary safety measures for themselves and their families.

According to the rain forecast by the India Meteorological department and Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, very heavy rainfall is expected in different parts of Dima Hasao over the next 10 days, which may lead to natural disasters.
