Several Cops Including Abhajyoti Quizzed Extensively

NAGAON, June 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team, led by DIG Lovely Katiyar, has intensified its investigation into all aspects surrounding the mysterious death of SI Junmoni Rabha in Nagaon.

The central investigative agency summoned the former officer in charge of Nagaon Police Station, Manoj Rajbangshi, who was suspended immediately after the death of Junmoni, along with in-charge officer of Haibargaon Outpost SI Abhajyoti Rabha and driver of OC, Nagaon PS, Anil Bhuyan, to Nagaon Circuit House. They have been subjected to extensive questioning since Monday morning.

All these police officials, including the driver, were also summoned to Nagaon Circuit House late Sunday evening and interrogated at length by the CBI officials. Additionally, SI Raja Irshad was questioned again, according to sources.

Furthermore, the CBI’s technical team examined the computer set at Morikolong outpost, where the victim Junmoni served as the in-charge officer until her death.

The CBI officials directed the current in-charge of the outpost, Manoj Boruah, to bring all machinery and computer accessories from Morikolong outpost to Nagaon Circuit House. Manoj Boruah was also interrogated by the central bureau of investigation officials.

It is worth mentioning that Sumitra Rabha, the mother of the deceased lady police sub-inspector, mentioned the names of these police officers, along with SP Leena Doley, ASP Tridib Kumbang, in her First Information Report (FIR) filed at Jakhalabandha Police Station after the mysterious death of SI Junmoni Rabha. Moreover, the name of then additional superintendent of police (crime), Rupjyoti Kalita, was reportedly linked to the enigmatic demise of SI Junmoni Rabha, which garnered significant media attention across the state.

It is expected that the investigative agency will soon interrogate former SP Leena Doley, ASP Tridib Kumbang, and Rupjyoti Kalita in connection with the case, sources stated.
