SIVASAGAR, Nov 21: The DIPRO Office in Sivasagar is in such a dilapidated state that it may crumble to the ground at any moment if urgent repair work is not undertaken. The media fraternity here recently informed the new district commissioner, Ayush Garg, about the ruined condition of the office building and the lack of a DIPRO.
The media personnel urged the district commissioner to repair the building, which has become a threat to the lives of the employees forced to work under its deteriorating roof. Most of the wooden beams of the building have crumbled, and the walls have caved in.
Nikhil Dutra, an employee of the department, told this correspondent that they have to work in constant fear as no one knows when the building, constructed in the 1960s, might collapse. The media fraternity also requested the district commissioner to appoint a new DIPRO, as the present assistant commissioner in charge of the DIPRO is unable to cater to the needs of over a hundred media personnel in the district.
