TEZPUR, Nov 13: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur, successfully completed a 15-day training programme for agricultural input dealers, which began on October 29 and concluded on Tuesday, November 12. The training was jointly organised by Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, and the District Agriculture Office, Sonitpur. Over these 15 days, the dealers were trained in various agricultural aspects, such as suitable cropping systems for existing agro-ecological conditions, macro and micro-nutrient deficiencies in soil, their symptoms, and management approaches. Topics also covered different types of fertilisers and their application methods, classifications of pesticides, principles and practices of integrated nutrient management, food adulteration, stress management, and more.
Other subjects included types of farm machinery, components, repair, and maintenance of farm implements and machinery, as well as rural credit, microfinance, crop insurance, etc.
In the valedictory session, Dr Angana Sharma, senior scientist & head of KVK, Sonitpur, congratulated the participants and encouraged them to share their experiences with farmers. She expressed gratitude to the Department of Agriculture, the organisers of the training programme, and all the resource persons who delivered lectures. Pranjal Sarma, DAO, Sonitpur, congratulated the participants on successfully completing the training and wished them well, hoping the knowledge gained would be useful in the near future. The valedictory session was anchored by Dr Namita Dutta, course director of the training, and concluded with the distribution of certificates to the dealers.
