Sonowal Kachari Sahitya Sabha session held in Bamrajabari

SIVASAGAR, May 25:
 Addressing the mid-term session of the Sonowal Kachari Sahitya Sabha in Bhimbar Deori Bhawan at Bamrajabari, on Sunday, Tankeswar Sonowal, the chief executive member of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council, said that only intellectual exercise can lead a community towards development and the council has all along been doing its best to create an atmosphere for that. The council has so far provided employment opportunities to over a thousand youths besides providing scholarships to more for the competitive examinations and as a result of which 90 Sonowal Kachari youths have cleared APSC examinations.
The meeting presided over by Mohan Sonowal, president of the Sonowal Kachari Sahitya Sabha, was addressed also by former MLA of Sadiya LAC, Jyotsna Sonowal, litterateur Prahlad Chandra Tassa, vice principal of the North Bank College Loboram Sonowal, secretary of the Sonowal Kachari Jatiya Parishad Chandan Sonowal, the president of the All Assam Sonowal Kachari Students Union Debananda Cheleng, secretary, Sonowal Kachari Sahitya Sabha Mridul Snowal and Prasanta Saikia.
Jyotsna Sonowal inaugurated the meeting and said that a nation without literature and culture cannot draw respect from others. Loboram Sonowal said that the unfortunate thing about the Sonowal Kachari people is that they read less. Chandan Sonowal urged the Sonowal Kachari youths to enter into the world of business and entrepreneurship for self-reliance.
The welcome address was delivered by Arup Sonowal while social worker Pitambar Kachari, farmer Dilip Saikia, and state footballer Jatin Saikia were felicitated in the meeting.
