MARGHERITA, May 7: St James School, a leading educational institution in the Margherita region, transformed into a vibrant cultural hub on Wednesday as it hosted its much-anticipated 2nd Annual Open Rongali Bihu Celebration. The event, now a cherished tradition, brought together students, teachers, parents, and the local community in a dazzling display of Assam’s rich culture and heritage.
The campus came alive with mesmerizing performances by students, who showcased traditional dances such as Husori, Jeng Bihu, and Jhumur, captivating the audience with their energy and precision. The infectious beats of the dhol and taal echoed across the school grounds, creating an electrifying festive atmosphere that left attendees spellbound.
In the lead-up to the celebration, the school organized a seven-day cultural workshop, where students were trained in traditional music and dance under the guidance of dedicated teachers Parthana Saikia Hazarika, Nisha Singh, and Ruby Changmai Handique. The culmination of the workshop was today’s spectacular showcase—testament to the school’s commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Assam.
