GUWAHATI, June 30: In a bid to strengthen public engagement and hold the state government accountable, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Monday launched the ‘Assam Justice Portal’—a digital platform to address citizen grievances.
The portal was unveiled at Rajiv Bhawan, the party’s state headquarters, by Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, alongside senior leaders including MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar and Assam Mahila Congress President Mira Borthakur.
Designed as an interactive interface, the platform enables citizens to report issues related to local governance, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and public services.
The Congress party will then escalate these concerns to the relevant authorities for resolution.
Saikia emphasized the portal’s role in ensuring transparency and accountability.
“This initiative amplifies public voices and keeps the government informed about ground realities,” he said.
The APCC stated that complaints lodged on the portal will be scrutinized before being raised with officials, with a focus on systemic failures, particularly in Panchayati Raj institutions.
Beyond grievance redressal, the portal will also serve as a tool to monitor governance lapses, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
The launch aligns with the Congress’s efforts to revive its grassroots connect in Assam under state chief Gaurav Gogoi, who noted renewed enthusiasm among party workers.
“Block-level meetings have drawn unexpectedly large crowds, reflecting public support,” Gogoi said.
The initiative marks the Opposition’s push to bridge the gap between citizens and policymakers while positioning itself as a proactive watchdog in the state.
