SIVASAGAR, Dec 6: The chief executive officer (CEO) of Sivasagar Zila Parishad, Ashwini Kumar Doley, held a press conference on Wednesday to update the media on the progress of the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme in the district, following the directives from the commissioner of Panchayats and Rural Development Department.
Doley emphasised that the department is working tirelessly to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of providing housing for all by 2024. He credited the success of the PMAY-G (Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin) to the strong leadership of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the promising efforts of panchayat and rural development minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass.
Since 2016, a total of 16,04,677 PMAY-G houses have been constructed in Assam, with 13,604 houses completed in Sivasagar district in the last 30 months. The state has seen the completion of 12,00,369 lakh houses during this period. In Sivasagar district, 17,478 PMAY-G houses out of a total of 21,393 households have been completed, reaching an 82% completion rate.
The press conference witnessed the presence of Sujita Iwa, Hemlata Chetia, Nayanjyoti Bargohain, and Lohit Phukan from the Zila Parishad. The success of the PM’s housing scheme highlights the commitment of the government in addressing the housing needs of its citizens.
