Two arrested in major narcotics seizure on NH-29 in KA

BOKAJAN, Dec 4: In a successful anti-narcotics operation, police apprehended two individuals and seized a significant quantity of suspected psychotropic substances and cannabis during a routine Naka checking duty on National Highway 29 (NH-29) at Dillai Tiniali, Karbi Anglong.

The interception occurred on Wednesday, December 3, around 3:00 PM, when officers stopped a white Chevrolet Spark bearing registration number AS 04 F 7303, traveling from Hidipi towards Manja. Officers suspected the vehicle might be carrying narcotics and immediately informed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Karbi Anglong and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Bokajan.

After obtaining the necessary authorisation from the SDPO, police conducted a thorough search of the vehicle. The operation led to the seizure of various narcotics and psychotropic substances, including 154 SPS capsules weighing 6.702 grams, 57 Symdex Plus capsules weighing 3.940 grams, 30 Nitravet-10 tablets weighing 2.695 grams and one transparent polythene packet containing suspected cannabis weighing 1.429 kilograms. All items were seized, packed and sealed in the presence of independent witnesses, following standard procedure.

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Letkhongam Lunkin (26), son of Kamdar Lunkin and Lunkin (56), son of Thangkhotom Lunkin, both residents of Lailoi, PS Dillai, District Karbi Anglong, Assam.

Authorities have confirmed that a case will be registered in connection with the seizure and arrests and further investigation is ongoing.
