The remaining eight were sent to judicial custody after being produced before a local court.
According to sources, Abdul Noor and Ramjan Khan were remanded to police custody, while the other eight—Pranab Gowala, Rohit Rajput, Ashwajit Barua, Babu Ali, Debajit Barua, Bikash Chetry, Mon Barua, and Abdul Rahim—were sent to jail.
All ten have been booked under Sections 126(2), 118(2), 109(1), 3(5), and 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with Jorhat Police Station Case No. 202/2025.
Bedanga was reportedly attacked by the group on Sunday night while returning home from a Bihu function. He had allegedly asked the youths earlier not to create a nuisance near the venue of the programme.
Meanwhile, Jorhat MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami visited the house of the deceased on Wednesday and offered his condolences to the bereaved family. Residents of the locality reportedly informed Goswami about the rising drug peddling activities in the area by some unscrupulous elements, and urged strong police action to curb such activities.
