GUWAHATI, May 2: “Bodofa Upendranath Brahma was a great inspiration for the Bodo community. The contribution, which he left behind with his lifetime effort, for the development of the community is really of great importance. A role model for today’s youths, Upendranath Brahma through self-sacrifice struggled throughout his life to achieve independence of thinking against any ruler. To honour his contribution as well as his thoughts should be the priority on this very day,” said Ramani Barman, an executive trustee of Media Trust, Assam while addressing the 32nd death anniversary program of UN Brahma. The program was organised in the head office of the organisation situated at Rupnagar, Guwahati. The function chaired by Prashanta Jyoti Baruah, chairperson of the Trust was also graced by Dilip Sarma, Nirmal Kumar Ray – both trustees among others. Nilamoni Borah, journalist with ‘The Hills Times’ and Kanbura Signer hailing from Karbi Anglong too spoke on the occasion. Prasanta Jyoti Baruah, in his presidential speech described his experiences when he met late UN Brahma during his last days. The program was formally inaugurated by Prasanta Jyoti Baruah. Earlier, Tarun Saikia, senior trustee, Media Trust lit the earthen lamp in front of the statue of UN Brahma to show respect to the great leader. Phani Bhushan Das, noted local citizen, formally lit the lamp before starting of the main program. It would be noteworthy to mention that many trustees as well as journalists associated with Media Trust, Assam besides other distinguished citizens attended the day’s program to show respect towards late UN Brahma.
