GOSSAIGAON, June 3: In alignment with the nationwide initiative, the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was successfully conducted today in Shoraibil and Janali villages under Gossaigaon subdivision, Kokrajhar district. The event was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kokrajhar, in collaboration with the Departments of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Veterinary Services.
The program was led by KVK scientist Shantanu Kaushik Barai, who provided valuable insights on pre-kharif cultivation practices, emphasizing the importance of high-quality seeds, balanced fertilizer use, and soil fertility management.
The events, held in both villages, were conducted under the supervision of KVK subject-matter specialist Parna Sharma, with the participation of multiple department officials and prominent community members. They highlighted key government schemes and benefits available to farmers and rural households.
Dr. Binod Upadhyay, a scientist from the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), delivered an informative session on common crop pests and effective methods of pest prevention and control. Badit Zaman Fakir from the Fisheries Department shared his observations on the local water bodies and discussed their potential for sustainable fish farming.
Dhruvajyoti Ramsiary, a veterinarian from the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, offered essential guidance on pig and poultry farming, emphasizing disease prevention and management strategies to ensure healthier livestock.
Scientist Parna Sharma also delivered a powerful address on women empowerment, food processing, and value addition to millets. She encouraged women’s self-help groups (SHGs) to pursue self-reliance and economic empowerment through skill-building and enterprise development.
Key attendees included Agriculture Department officials Juliana Basumatary, Rakesh Boro, and Debajit Hajowary, along with ASRLM officers Prakash Narzary and Muktiraj Basumatary.
The dual events saw enthusiastic participation from over 500 farmers and villagers, reflecting the growing awareness and interest in sustainable agricultural practices and rural development.
