World Veterinary Day observed

DIPHU, April 27: On the occasion of the ‘World Veterinary Day’, ‘The All Claws and Paws Diphu Veterinary Clinic organised a free anti-rabies vaccination and animal health check-up at its premises in Diphu on Saturday.

The theme for this year’s ‘World Veterinary Day’ is ‘Veterinarians are essential health workers’.

The free vaccination camp has been organised to inform pet owners and the general public the need to routinely immunize their pets. It also aims to recognise the service of veterinarians for their excellent work on the well being of animals and humans.

The vaccination camp began at 9 am in the morning, where pet owners brought their pets including dogs and cats for vaccination and health check-up. Dogs of various breeds and puppies were brought for vaccination and free health check up.

Veterinary surgeon Lonee Dutta, consultant of All Claws & Paws Diphu Veterinary Clinic informed that till the afternoon 200 dogs and cats were vaccinated with anti rabies vaccination and 55 animals were given free animal health check-up.

She said an interaction with farmers and pet owners to inform them on the importance of maintaining healthy life of animals was also conducted on the occasion.

Speaking on the importance of the day, Dutta said the day is celebrated to raise awareness that veterinarians play a critical role in safeguarding animal health, which directly translates to human well-being. It also encourages people to know about the spread of disease from animals and the need to routinely immunize their pets.

Field assistance Suresh Hanse and Samir Kathar conducted the immunization of animals, while their health check-up was done by Dutta.
